Video and Photojournalism

Video and Photojournalism Media Publication

Internship- Mamoni Valley Preserve, Republic of Panama

Experience Mamoni is seeking interns to help tell our story and to conceptualize and execute focused photo- or video-documentary projects that celebrate our natural and cultural surroundings. As a member of our media documentation team, you’ll lend your artistic voice to our public image and multimedia presentations, and you’ll be a key communicator of our story of biocultural renewal to the world through our website and social networks.

Our projects provide unique opportunities for professionals looking to broaden their portfolio or for the highly self-motivated newcomers seeking to easily learn as they work. Regardless of the level of difficulty, however, your day to day tasks will look very different depending on the programs and events that overlap with your stay and what subfield of media interests you– whether video or still photography.

Explore with us an experience that allows flexibility for you to test the waters of more than one particular aspect within a media subfield. Prior experience and/or knowledge of the field is not required. In general, all media interns should have excellent communication skills and a passion for sharing information with the world.

Based primarily at our Centro Mamoní Campus, you’ll be a major contributor to our resident community. You should be capable of:

  • Taking great photographs or film;
  • Writing well, following standard journalistic guidelines;
  • Engaging with subjects, particularly shy or under-responsive local populations;
  • Drawing stories out of seemingly every-day occurrences;
  • Supporting our presence on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Ideally, you are:

  • Passionate about social and political inclusion of marginalized groups, including poor subsistence farmers and native populations;
  • An artist;
  • Great with people, especially kids;
  • Comfortable in cross-cultural interactions;
  • Not terrified of snakes, spiders and scorpions.

Are you ready to share the role of our Documentation and Public Image team?

If so visit us at www.ExperienceMamoni.com or contact our Program Director Mark Knetsch @ mark@experiencemamoni.com for further info!

How to Join Us

We currently offer program appointments for internships, apprenticeships, scientists/researchers as well as accepting volunteers. Please fill out the form and a representative will contact you shortly!

Apprenticeships commit to work for a longer period of time to get practical experience and learn a specific job or skill while interns are students, graduates and young professionals who work with our learning directors to gain supervised, practical professional experience.

Volunteers are independently driven voluntourists joining us to help move the organization forward. There is no one specific field they will be focused on as they are expected to help our team of staff and interns with any project that, at that specific time, needs attention for us to accomplish our mission of conserving the Mamoni Valley.
